How to Arrive for Your Boudoir Session: The Details Matter!

Your boudoir session day is finally here, and I want you to feel relaxed, confident, and totally prepared! While I’ll take care of the pampering and posing, there are a few simple steps you can take before arriving to make sure you’re photo-ready from head to toe.

1. Dry Hair Is a Must

Plan to arrive with completely dry hair. It’s best to wash and dry it the night before or even one full day ahead of time. Freshly washed hair can be a bit too soft to style, and damp hair can delay your session and limit styling options. A little prep here goes a long way for that perfect glam moment.

2. Clean Face, Ready for Makeup

Please arrive with a fresh, clean face — no makeup, no SPF, no residue. Our glam team is ready to transform you, and a clean canvas makes the biggest difference!

3. Choose Smart/Loose Clothing

You’ll want to wear something easy to take off without disturbing your makeup or hair. Think zip-ups or wide-neck tops. Avoid anything you have to pull over your head.

Loose-fitting clothing is key! Even the coziest yoga pants can leave seam lines that show up in photos. I recommend soft, oversized pieces and no bra before your session — we want smooth, line-free skin.

4. Shoes & Socks

Skip the socks! I’ve seen sock lines linger for an entire shoot. Instead, wear slide-on sandals and let your feet breathe. Simple and smart.

5. Keep Accessories Minimal

If you're not planning to wear a watch or jewelry in your session, leave them at home. Watches especially can leave deep impressions on your wrist that take hours to fade.

And don’t forget that sneaky hair elastic! Many people wear one on their wrist without thinking, but it can leave a mark or be forgotten until we’re mid-shoot. Best to ditch it before you head out the door.

6. You Might Feel a Little Frumpy… But That’s Okay!

Trust me—you may not feel glamorous when you arrive in loose clothes and no makeup, but it’s so worth it for the final results. You won’t look frumpy in your photos. In fact, you’ll look stunning.

Following these little tips helps us make the most of every minute of your session and ensures your photos are as smooth, polished, and radiant as possible.
