Glam and Edge: A Boudoir Session in Reading, MA Studio with Jenny Luu
When it comes to boudoir photography, there are endless possibilities for creating a look that reflects your unique personality. For our recent session at my studio in Reading, MA, we decided to step outside the box and create something bold, glamorous, and a little edgy. Working with the amazing Jenny Luu, we had so much fun styling our client in dark, velvety wardrobe pieces that helped showcase her confidence and fierce side.
Edgy Glam: Dark and Velvety Wardrobe Choices
For this session, we wanted to lean into an edgy glam look, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the wardrobe choices we landed on. Our client brought some of her own stunning pieces, and we complemented them with selections from the client closet. The client closet is an incredible resource I offer with every session, allowing clients to experiment with different looks that they might not have considered before. From sultry velvet bodysuits to bold lace, the wardrobe options available can help bring your vision to life.
We chose darker tones that made a statement—rich blacks, deep burgundies, and dark purples—each one adding to the mood of the session. These darker tones have a mysterious, powerful energy that really made our client shine in front of the camera. It was the perfect balance of glam and edge, all while keeping things elegant and beautiful.
Faux Shower Set: A Steamier Way to End the Session
Once we finished capturing some amazing images in the studio, we decided to take the shoot to the next level with a faux shower set. I absolutely love incorporating the shower set into boudoir sessions—it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to end a shoot. Don’t worry, even though it looks like a real shower, you don’t actually get very wet! The setup creates the perfect amount of steam and ambiance for a more sultry vibe, giving the images an extra layer of depth and allure.
The steam from the faux shower set adds so much to the session—think soft, dreamy light, and that perfect amount of intensity that really brings out the confidence in our clients. It’s the ideal setting for capturing those implied nude shots, where we get to highlight the body in a natural, tasteful way. And can we talk about how amazing our client’s tattoos looked in this setting? The ink truly popped against the steam, making the images feel even more raw and powerful. It was the perfect backdrop to show off her incredible tattoos, and they added a unique, personal touch to the session.

The faux shower set isn’t just a fun way to wrap up a session—it’s a chance to capture something a little different, a little daring, and a little unexpected. It’s a way to explore implied nudity and sensuality in a way that feels natural and artful. And while it's an incredibly sexy setup, it’s also soft and tasteful, letting the client express themselves in a comfortable, empowering way.
In the end, the shoot was all about embracing boldness and confidence. Our client stepped out of her comfort zone and brought her edgy, glamorous vision to life, and it was such an honor to help her do that.
