Tulle, Pines & Romance | Outdoor Bridal Portraits on the North Shore
There is just something magical about taking bridal portraits outside — the movement of the dress, the soft natural light, the way the veil catches the breeze. This recent outdoor bridal session in Reading, MA was pure romance from start to finish, and I’m still swooning over every image.
Stunning Gowns from Tulle Bridal Boutique
All of the dresses for this session came from the absolutely gorgeous Tulle Bridal Boutique in North Andover, and they were truly breathtaking. From layers of airy tulle to elegant, structured silhouettes, each gown photographed beautifully in the natural setting.
As a Boston area bridal photographer, I love collaborating with local bridal boutiques on styled shoots like this — it gives brides inspiration for how their gown can move and photograph beyond the wedding day itself.
And yes… we did end up with a few pine needles caught in the tulle. 😉 That’s part of the adventure!
Why I Recommend Outdoor Bridal Portraits After Your Wedding Day
While you absolutely can take bridal portraits before your ceremony, I often recommend scheduling an outdoor bridal session after your wedding day. Why?
Because it allows you to fully enjoy your gown without stress. We can walk through wooded paths, step into tall grass, sit, twirl, and truly create art — without worrying about keeping everything pristine before you walk down the aisle.
Outdoor bridal portraits give us:
Movement and drama in the dress
Soft, natural New England light
A relaxed, creative atmosphere
Time to focus only on you
If a little dirt or a few pine needles find their way into your hem, it’s no big deal when the wedding festivities are already complete!
Hair & Makeup Perfection by Tara
Tara absolutely nailed the hair and makeup for this session. Bridal beauty plays such a huge role in how your portraits feel — whether you want soft and romantic, bold and modern, or something completely different from your wedding day look.
An after-wedding bridal portrait session is the perfect opportunity to:
Recreate your wedding day glam for cohesive album images
Try a second look you didn’t get to wear
Go softer, edgier, or more dramatic
Experiment with hair down vs. up
As a North Shore MA bridal photographer, I always encourage brides to use this as a chance to express another side of their bridal style.
My Favorite Outdoor Location: Reading Town Forest
For this session, we explored the beautiful trails at Reading Town Forest — hands down my favorite outdoor portrait location in Reading, Massachusetts.
The tall pines, open pathways, and dreamy filtered sunlight create the most romantic backdrop for bridal portraits. It’s private enough to feel intimate but expansive enough to give us variety in every set of images.
