How to Find the Right Boudoir Photographer for You
Choosing the right boudoir photographer is an important decision. This is more than just a photo session—it's an experience that should make you feel confident, celebrated, and 100% comfortable in your own skin. Whether you’re booking a shoot to mark a milestone, give a gift, or simply celebrate yourself, here’s what to consider when finding your perfect boudoir match.
1. Location, Location, Location
Convenience plays a huge part in feeling relaxed on the day of your shoot. Ask yourself:
Is the studio easy to get to?
Do they offer free parking or public transportation options?
Is it a private space where you'll feel safe and at ease?
At Katherine Henry Boudoir, I’m located just 14 miles north of Boston with free on-site parking and easy train access (only a 4 minute walk from the Reading MBTA stop!), making your arrival stress-free. The studio is also only 20 miles from the New Hampshire border, making it a convenient destination for clients across New England.
2. Studio or Hotel? What’s the Vibe?
Boudoir photography settings vary widely—from hotel rooms to in-home setups to full-service studios. It’s important to know what kind of environment you’ll be stepping into. Does it feel safe and private? Is it styled to match your taste?
My studio is beautifully designed and filled with a variety of carefully curated sets to bring out your personality and style—whether you want soft and romantic, bold and empowered, or playful and fun. It’s a space built exclusively for boudoir, and every detail is meant to enhance your experience. I work with natural light and as soon as you step through the door you will be greeted with large windows spilling light into the room! (Window shots are some of my favs!)
3. Editing & Posing Style
Do you love light and airy photos, or are you drawn to moody and dramatic tones? A photographer’s editing and posing style plays a huge role in the final result. When researching, browse portfolios carefully and make sure their style aligns with your vision.
At Katherine Henry Boudoir, my editing style is feminine, cheerful, and polished. I believe boudoir should reflect the full range of your personality—that's why I emphasize variety. You’ll leave your session with a gallery that includes everything from sultry and intimate to joyful and radiant. I’ll guide you through poses that have you looking directly at the camera and others that are more candid and reflective. Whether you're smiling, serious, or sultry—I’ll capture it all with intention and artistry.
4. What Extras Are Included?
A truly luxury boudoir experience goes beyond just taking photos. Ask what additional services are offered to elevate your shoot.
At Katherine Henry Boudoir, I include professional hair and makeup with every session, so you can arrive bare-faced and be pampered before stepping in front of the camera. Just roll out of bed and head over! Our expert artists are part of our all-female team, so you’ll always be surrounded by women who specialize in making you feel confident and beautiful from the very beginning.
You’ll also have access to our studio closet, which is filled with lingerie, jewelry, robes, and heels—including our incredibly popular shoe collection with Louboutins! Many of our clients show up with nothing but their excitement—we’ve got the rest covered!
You’ll also have the option of adding on the shower set! This is a custom made shower that elevates your photos and adds all the steamy to your shoot! Don’t worry - it’s faux so you won’t leave soaked! hehe
5. Final Products & Keepsakes
Are you booking your session to create a gift? Want to preserve your images in timeless artwork? Make sure your photographer offers the products you’re looking for—not all studios do.
At Katherine Henry Boudoir, we offer a wide variety of fun, luxurious, and completely customizable keepsakes. From heirloom albums and metal wall art to retro ViewMasters and custom playing cards, your images deserve to be printed and enjoyed. During your private viewing session, you’ll return to the studio to see your fully edited gallery and explore our sample products in person. Together, we’ll design pieces that match your style and make your images feel even more special.
6. Who Will Be in the Room With You?
Some people prefer a female-only team; others are comfortable with a male or mixed-gender photographer team. What matters most is that you feel completely safe and at ease. It’s okay to ask who will be present during your session.
At Katherine Henry Boudoir, we’re proud to be an all-female team—from your first email to the final glam touch before your shoot begins.
Ready to feel like your most confident self?
